Region 678 Families,

Since our last update, the Los Angeles County Department of Health has made significant revisions to its Protocol for Organized Youth Sports.  With these changes it’s now possible to work towards the opening of our season.  However, due to the delays caused by this order we are forced to push our opening date for games back by 14 days (9/24/21-9/25/21).  All practices and our upcoming picture day shall proceed as scheduled.

The vast majority of our players will no longer be required to perform routine screening tests prior to games, but a small percentage of players and volunteers may still be required to test until such time as County infection rates are reduced to an acceptable level.  Players under the age of 12 are now exempt from routine testing, as well as volunteers and players 12 years of age and older who can show they are fully vaccinated.

This two-week delay will allow our Region to put together a system for families to verify their vaccination status, provide you with addition information and resources, and allow families to self-report testing as needed.  Our next update will cover the specifics in great detail including who needs to test and what exemptions exist for those who may not be able to meet the requirement.  We will also review how our system of verification will be implemented.
